May 18, 2006
Thursday, May 18th, 2006 7:14 PMThe meeting was called to order by, Brian Lackey.
Ten members were present.
Treasurers report presented by Paul Carlstedt,
Closing Balance May 18, 2006.....$1,617.14
OLD BUSINESS:
Change of meeting place....
Andy Hinds suggested we look at "Everyday Joes" coffee house on Mountain and Oak as a meeting place.
Another location mentioned was "Alzheimer's" on North Peterson.
We'll keep you posted on where the meeting will be held.
We are still looking into the purchase of a projector, resolution of 1024 at the least.
Newsletter....
Brian would appreciate contributions of articles for the Newsletter.
NEW BUSINESS:
Program presenters needed...
Brian, presented an outline of ideas for programs. The question and answer time of the meeting is good,≠ but not enough to keep members interested. We all know different aspects of the MAC and use it in different ways. We all use different applications or software that members and guests would be interested in. We are asking for your help to keep this group going. Your presentation doesn't have to be an hour long. Fifteen minutes along with some discussion could be a program.
Please look at the attached list and pick an item and a date that would be good for you (a third Thursday of the month) and let me know (porvmom@aol.com). The list is only to get us started, if you have something you'd like to present that isn't on the list let us know. Also you don't have to be a member.
Pam Stevens presenting Scrap booking in June.
Paul Carlstedt is presenting Quicken Investments in August.
We have a start now won't you volunteer??
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM

The meeting minutes follow:The Fort Collins Mac Users Group
September 21, 2006 Meeting held at Allnutt Family Room
Nine members were in attendance.
The evening began with Pam setting up for her presentation. She brought her projector minus a cable hookup (at this point I'd like to THANK the persons who answered Pam's and my call for help earlier in the day. Paul Carlstedt brought his adapter, Bob Poland brought a cable, and Andy Hinds brought his new iMac G5 with a 20" screen.) Pam ended up using the new iMac G5 with 20 inch screen since the adapter nor the cable worked with the projector.
Brian began the meeting ..7:20 pm
Paul read the Treasurers Report: as of 9/15/06 checking account balance of $1,402.79.
New Business:
Pam Stevens made a motion for Brian Lackey, to buy universal cable kit. Brian agreed to the motion.
Paul Carlstedt 2nd the motion, the motion was passed.
Brian demonstrated with the help of Andy Hinds on using Mac OS screen savers:
--Open system preferences/Click on Desktop and Screen Saver/in the box that comes up click on screen saver/now you can play around with the screen saver library.
Brian talked about Steve Jobs Keynote Speech in September (ipod and iTV)
If you have problems or questions go to (www.apple.com/support).
Click on Apples Discussion Groups. This is a great place to get answers.
Old Business: Jean Poland designed a matrix for MUG to narrow down the members interests and capabilities. Results of the matrix will help members plan programs and a meeting format.
ie:
October program "Mac version of MS Word" presenter Jean Poland.
She requests everyone send in two questions they would like to be addressed by Jean during her presentation. (jean.poland@comcast.net)
November program on "iPhoto" presenter Brian Lackey.
December Christmas Party with discussion and games.
PROGRAM AT THE SEPTEMBER MEETING WAS "MEMORIES" PRESENTED BY PAM STEVENS
This is software for creative computer photo albums. No cutting tools to buy or stickers to paste all you have to do is click and drag. I was very impressed and the program would allow you to print your pages for hard copies or make files that you could send as attachments. You could also upload to web pages. The program will be auctioned off at the October FCMUG meeting.
Thank you for the presentation Pam.

Business
Pam asked that FCMUG make an offer for the projector we have been renting.
Jean Poland offered to do research on the projector
(Luxeon, Model M#B1, digital zoom, 1024-768)
Brian was asked to purchase cables for the Luxeon projector, but he did not find
the cables that were necessary to use with computers we have available to us.
An action item taken up was to sell or donate the computers FCMUG has stored
on the stand at Allnutt. Pat was asked to contact; We Love Macs, Low End Macs
(8600 Power Mac, Monitors, other CPUs).
Robert Poland was asked to be the Webmaster of http://www.fortmac.org.
Brian Lackey will withdraw his name and install Robert Poland as, Apple Ambassador.
FCMUG had discussed moving to a different meeting room, it is difficult to find a
quiet area that has wifi so for the near future FCMUG will continue meeting at
Allnutt Family Room.
Presentation of MS Word by Jean Poland
Working with the questions Jean received she had a program that flowed with
interest to the audience and more questions from the audience. The questions
gave the presentation structure and organization. The question format went
so well Brian has asked that everyone send in two or three questions they
would like Brian to cover at the November 16th meeting when he will present
iPhoto.
The following items were addressed. If anyone would like more information
in any of these areas open the download and find more information.
1. How to insert photos into a Microsoft word document.
2. After a picture is imported, then get the words on the page to wrap
around the picture. Left, right, and center justified pictures.
3. How to indent paragraphs under a heading that is not indented.
4. How to stop Microsoft word from adding the person's full name when
you type the first name.
5. Formatting multiple pages the same.
6. Cover the format painter
7. Cover headers and footers
Jean, Thank you for the presentation.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR QUESTIONS TO BRIAN BY WEDNESDAY,
NOVEMBER 1, SO HE HAS TIME TO PREPARE FOR THE MEETING.
